I remember ... back when I skated we had a philosophy about life and wheels and falling: you work hard, go am, go pro. A lot has happened since then, but a little of the fun seems lost … am I talking in general? But, here’s one of my own heroes and what it meant then to work hard at enjoying yourself … oh, shit, did I say ENJOY?
I’ve finally made (enter). I prostrate before The Futility Review for accepting my work for rejection in the Winter 1998 issue. 1998 was a good year, I think. It’s an honor to be rejected along such great poets.
What a great reading. What great work. What great conversation. What a wonderful feeling to have poems alive. Wow. If you saw it, if you are here, you know. If not, well. JMW NEG JM JG = force.
I love that words bind, fill covers. To disappoint, to be enlivened, to feel living in covers in words, covered. Terrible the words all over the page … an mla format dished out as though: not a (thing of thing). But, the particular thing in words all over words (a neighborhood of words, a community) in covers. What do ears hear in words (the regular ears, not the ear) in the all over the page words. What corpse, words in covers, what a peeping to corpse under covers. Covers, they say, are nothing. Under covers, they say not much about. Some say in the covers … oh, actually, layer, or a cover in a cover, they like that … they are guilty as we. Undercover words, poor words, cover. Cover the page-cover (cover of cover) so, a layer of words cover themselves. A warm. A cold. Ah. An ah. Which one? Yes, which.
